How to Choose the Right Treatment Equipment: Screens, Grit Removal and Conveyors

Choosing the right treatment equipment means determining the correct type and capacity of screens, grit removal, conveyors, DAF and dewatering units according to the effluent character, flow and process line. The wrong choice causes both efficiency loss and high operating cost.

Screen selection is the first step. Coarse screens capture large solids, fine screens smaller particles; manual screens suit low-flow plants while automatic (mechanical) screens suit continuous, high-flow plants. Perforated screens provide high solids-capture efficiency.

Grit removal protects pumps and equipment from abrasion. Removing sand and gravel early extends the life of downstream units. For conveyors, belt conveyors excel at horizontal transport while screw conveyors are advantageous for inclined, enclosed transport.

For sludge dewatering, filter presses stand out for high dryness and decanters for continuous operation. Equipment material matters too: stainless steel means long life and low maintenance in corrosive effluents.
